Year-Round Balloon Flights

We fly year-round, twice a day, at sunrise and 2-3 hours before sunset, wind- and weather-permitting. Flights last approximately one hour but may vary depending on the availability of landing sites. The entire adventure is about 3-4 hours in duration and may cover a distance of 2 to 15 miles, depending on wind speed and direction. On your flight, we may fly at altitudes varying from crop and treetop level to several thousand feet where we can view the scenic expanse of State College, Happy Valley and beyond. After the flight, the new aeronauts are presented with a flight certificate while the pilot shares the history of ballooning. Everyone joins in a champagne (or sparkling cider) toast to commemorate the flight. There’s no better way to start or end your day!

Flight schedules are based on a first come, first served basis. Advanced reservations are required. While we can usually accommodate “short notice” reservations, as the season progresses, longer lead times will be needed to guarantee a reservation on the desired date of your flight.

Balloons do not fly in rain, fog, snow or wind above 6 mph. These and many other conditions can affect the decision to fly or not to fly and are considered to ensure a safe flight for all. The decision to fly will be made by the pilot and all decisions are final.

Ballooning in an outdoor activity. Appropriate dress for the outdoors is necessary. Dress comfortably to be outside for 3-4 hours. We strongly recommend long pants and require closed-toe, low-heeled shoes. Avoid high heels, sandals, dresses and skirts. We may be walking in fields, so dress casually. Remember, the launch or landing site may be damp with dew, so waterproof shoes are handy. In cooler weather, dress in layers. On warm days, the burner can radiate heat, so caps are recommended, especially for tall people.

Bring your family and friends to share and participate in your adventure. Everyone is welcome to join in the “crew” duties of preparation, inflation and deflation of the balloon. We have found that it adds greatly to the fun and excitement of the entire ballooning experience.

Flights cost $225 per person. Up to four passengers can join the pilot in the basket during each flight.

Although we are fully insured and have a 100% safety record, a signed waiver is required from each passenger to fulfill our insurance requirements.

For safety concerns, we require that there be no smoking in or around the balloon and vehicles, or during your adventure.

Due to the inherent risks associated with ballooning, people with the following conditions may be unable to enjoy the sport:

  • pregnancy
  • back injury
  • joint replacement
  • osteoporosis
  • recent surgery
  • broken/injured limbs
  • inability to stand for extended periods, or reliance on a walker or cane
  • reliance on oxygen breathing equipment

Passengers must be at least 42” to fly. To enable us to adjust the total weight in the basket given the air temperature and number of passengers, we request that you advise us at the time the reservation is made if the weight of any passenger on your flight exceeds 220 lbs.

Per FAA regulations, passengers under the influence of drugs or alcohol cannot and will not be flown. Refunds will not be given for those who arrive in such a state.
